The battery itself is pretty amazing - not only have I gotten over 1500 RAW photos off of one battery with some intermittent videos and was fine. I bought a second battery to put in the Canon BG-E6 Battery Grip for Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLR and how I can literally shoot for days straight without bringing a charger. What the truly awesome part is that I can view battery status in the LCD including shutter clicks.

What's bothersome is that with every new camera, there's a new battery. I'm sure that with each new camera, there's unique power requirements. However, one of the things that bothers me is as consumers and as an industry, that we're not doing what we can in order to reduce the amount of waste and allow reuse between camera models. When the 5D Mark II, demand was high and supply was low, and it led to price gouging. I'm sure that when the Canon 7D comes out that it will have a unique battery as well... it's just frustrating.
