This is a fairly standard projector bulb, contained within a massive cage. This adds a lot of cost and waste. I am comfortable handling projector bulbs, so next time my TV needs a new bulb, I will find the naked bulb somewhere and insert it into a reused cage.

This lamp does perform well, and is fairly easy to change when using this version with the big cage. I'm signing up for extra work, but I'm happy to do that to save some bucks and some waste. Get more detail about Sony XL-5200 - Projector lamp.
