I bought this lens for my Canon 50D and I truly do love it. I am using the Canon 28-135 for other things, but I really do like this lens as a great casual lens. I do use this for sports and vacations and even used it on a model photoshoot and got great results. I would definitely recommend this lens. For the price and quality, it's a great buy.Get more detail about

I'm an experienced photographer already equipped with DSLRs (EOS 30D, EOS 5D MKII), but these are not always pratical when you are travelling or biking (I do both on a regular basis). I try to take my DSLRs as often as possible with me but but there are occasions when I don't want to be bothered by the bulky cameras. At the same time, having already invested significantly in DSLR equipment, I wanted to limit my investment. A G10 or G11 would have been nice but for what I wanted to do, it would have been an overshoot. I'm mainly using my A1100is for candid pictures or pictures of places I know I will be coming back with my DSLRs later. Overall, I'm happy about quality of the pictures. I rarely use the full resolution, I typically shoot with medium resolution as I will rarely print large pictures (I have my DSLRs for that).
What I like:
- price
- size
- optical viewfinder (not many point and shoot cameras at this price range still has an optical viewfinder)
- slow shutter speed flash mode
- IS
What I'm missing:
- no aperture priority mode where I can choose a precise f-stop
- wish would have a wider angle
I would definitely recommend this for people on low budget but still wants good quality pictures. It has a lot of features for a camera which sells around $150.

When I bought my 40D last Feb., I bought the Canon 100mm USM f2.8 macro lens, but even at that time, I wished for a L-series IS macro. I love macro photography, but usually find myself in situations where I don't want to mess with a tripod. I couldn't understand the arguments against having an IS macro lens. When I am hiking or in a botanical garden with many people and space restrictions, I want to take the pictures free-hand. The 100mm USM f2.8 macro produced some nice pictures, and is perfect for those who use a tripod (so if you don't want to spend the extra money, certainly consider that lens).
I was in heaven when Canon announced the new L-series macro, and after about 1 1/2 months waiting, it finally arrived on Friday, and I took it out for a drive immediately. The pictures are awesome! Great focus and beautiful bokeh. The weight and length of the lens makes it very portable. The only "down side" is the speed of the focusing system. I guess in macro photography this isn't something you really have to worry about, but I did miss 2 opportunities to capture crisp pictures of some birds because by the time the lens focused, they had moved.
Overall though, this is a great lens!Get more detail about

I live up in New England and was looking for rich, vibrant fall foliage photos. This lens was just the ticket--I like taking rich, saturated photos with high contrast, and this lens does a lot of that work for me, pre-processing. I still haven't tried it on the foliage, but I love what I see so far!
It fits my lens perfectly, but because of the auto focus and because the filter is adjustable (moves around), it's difficult to remove. Sometimes my camera has difficulty focusing. I think that these things are just me and the filter getting to know each other, but it can be a bit frustrating at times.
All in all, I'm not at the place where I can (or need to) spend beaucoup bucks on a "quality"--or glass, or whatever makes them professional grade--filter, so this is a big step up in quality of photos at a much lower price point.Get more detail about

I have just used the first one. It is of good quality. pictures are crisp. My Sony camcoder is compatible with this. One issue is that it came in a pck of 3+3+3+1(I ordered ten). I was expecting it to come in one box. but otherwise no complain about the product. I have used it earlier as well and the video always turn out to be very goodGet more detail about

Wow am I glad I bought this battery. A friend who has a similar camera said I wouldn't need this but I found that it adds more stability to the camera as a thumb rest when shooting, an added bonus to the extended battery run time you get from this battery over the original that comes with the camera. I can shoot for hours with this baby before having to recharge it. Pair this with the optional battery charger and you are set for long days of shooting. I hardly ever use the original battery anymore.JVC BN-VF823U 2190-mAh Rechargeable Data Battery for JVC MiniDV and Everio CamcordersGet more detail about
